The Dining Plan is an essential part of the Kent State experience and without one a student could not get the full feel of the college atmosphere. In the following pages you will find the descriptions, comparison, tips, policies and FAQ’s in regards to the dining plans at Kent State University. If you have questions please send us a comment.

Current Students - Dining Plans

There are 4 Dining Plans to choose from at Kent State University. If you read the descriptions and examples below you can decide which Dining Plan is best for you.

Please note that you can add money to your Dining Plan during the semester at www.kent.edu/flashcard with a Visa® or Mastercard®. You may also change the type of Dining Plan between semesters. All Dining Plans are paid for by semester.

All Dining contracts are for one Academic Year and roll over from Fall to the following Spring semester. Only the Premier and Premier Plus plans, with the purchase of another Premier or Premier Plus plan, roll over from Spring to Fall Semester. The Dining Dollars left in the Lite and Basic Plans at the end of the semester will revert back to the University.

Lite Plan-$1420*

The Lite plan is designed for the student with the light appetite, someone who just gets by on less food than most, or who frequents home on the weekends. This plan entitles the user to a 10% bonus when money is added to the plan and does not roll over past the Spring semester. All left over funds at the end of the Spring Semester will revert back to the University.

Are you like:
Jill from Akron, Ohio works at her father’s store on the weekends. Jill has a very light appetite and her mother packs leftovers on Sunday for Jill’s trips back to campus. With Jill so close to home and having supplemental way of making the most of her meals she chose the Lite Plan. If this sounds like you choose the Lite Plan.

The Basic Plan,
the RIGHT PLAN for First Year students!-$1545*

Don’t always eat breakfast? But enjoy a late night snack. Then this plan is for you! Known as the ideal plan for most students on campus, the Basic Plan is a great “Starter Plan” for incoming Kent State students and returning as well! Kent State University quotes the Basic Plan in the “Room and Board” fees located in the housing information booklet. This plan entitles the user to a 10% bonus when money is added to the plan and does not roll over past the Spring Semester; all left over funds at the end of the Spring semester will revert back to the University.

Are you like:
Matt from Columbus, Ohio travels home 1-2 weekends a month. He is a student who goes to class during the day and spends most of his evenings in the Eastway Lower Lounge or working at the Eastway Deli. He enjoys a light snack between classes now and then; he has what most would call at “average” appetite. If this sounds like you, choose the Basic Plan.

Premier Plan-$1825* PLUS an extra $50 sign on bonus for getting this plan with value $1875*

This plan is for students who plan to eat an live on campus most of the time but who may not snack as much as their Premier Plus friends. Purchasing this plan also entitles the user to a 20% bonus on any amount that you add to your plan during the semester. Additionally, this plan can carry over from semester to semester, year to year with the purchase of another Premier plan or Premier Plus plan for the following Fall semester.

Jenn from New Jersey rarely travels home during the semester. She is active in intramural soccer and enjoys snacking between classes. Jenn chose the plan for the flexibility and ability to snack at any time including before and after games, practice or class. If this sounds like you, then pick the Premier plan.

Premier Plus Plan-$2145* PLUS an extra $100 sign on bonus for getting plan with value $2245*

For hearty appetites and students who plan to be on campus a majority of weekends-where on burger is just a snack and a meal is a meal. Purchasing this plan entitles the user to a 20% bonus on any amount of money added to the plan-for example, you add $100, $20 extra dollars are put onto the plan totaling $120 dining dollars. Additionally, this plan can carry over from semester to semester, year to year with the purchase of another Premier or Premier Plus plan for the following Fall semester.

Are you like:
These students-Josh Cribbs of the Cleveland Browns and James Harrison of the Pittsburgh Steelers used this plan. Students who have this plan are very active or happen to stay on campus a majority of the time. The student that picks this plan eats 4-5 meals a day on average during a week. If this sounds like you, then pick the Premier Plus plan.
